Genshin Impact Set to Launch Animated Series with Ufotable

by Hazel

In an exciting announcement, developer HoYoverse revealed that the blockbuster open-world Gacha RPG Genshin Impact is getting its own animated series. This project, developed in collaboration with renowned Japanese animation studio Ufotable, was unveiled during the Genshin Impact version 3.1 preview livestream on September 16.

Ufotable, celebrated for their work on the critically acclaimed anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, has been tasked with bringing the world of Genshin Impact to life. A concept trailer featuring the beloved Traveler Twins, Aether and Lumine, along with Paimon, was showcased during the event. The trailer beautifully illustrated various locations within Mondstadt, such as Stormterror’s Lair and Dragonspine, animated in Ufotable’s distinct style.

As Genshin Impact progresses through its story arcs, it is expected that the animated series will focus on the main narrative and Archon Quests. Enthusiasts are particularly eager to see how iconic battles, such as the defense of Liyue against Osial and confrontations with Tartaglia and the Raiden Shogun, will be depicted.

Currently, Genshin Impact is running version 3.0, which includes the launch of Sumeru, new characters, and additional content. Upcoming versions 3.1 and 3.2 will feature a shortened five-week cycle, a change implemented to realign with the game’s original release schedule following delays in version 2.7. Fans of the franchise are buzzing with anticipation for both the animated series and future game content.
