The staff for the anime adaptation of Reiji Miyajima’s “Rent-A-Girlfriend” (Kanojo, Okarishimasu) announced on Friday that a fourth season will premiere in 2025, focusing on the Hawaiians arc. This announcement coincides with the seventh anniversary of the manga’s launch.
The third season of the anime premiered on July 7, 2023, as part of the Super Animeism block on MBS, TBS, and 26 other affiliates, with Crunchyroll streaming it worldwide (excluding Asia). The second season debuted in July 2022, and Crunchyroll streamed it simultaneously.
The first season aired in July 2020, featuring 12 episodes, also streamed by Crunchyroll outside of Asia.
The story follows Kinoshita Kazuya, a 20-year-old college student who experiences heartbreak after a brief relationship. In a moment of frustration, he decides to rent a girlfriend, leading him to Mizuhara Chizuru, a beautiful girl who quickly becomes central to his life. The series explores their evolving relationship in a blend of romance and comedy.
Miyajima launched the manga in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in July 2017, with Kodansha USA Publishing releasing the English edition. The manga has also inspired a live-action series that premiered in July 2022.
