The Universal and DreamWorks Animation production raked in an impressive $30 million in ticket sales, solidifying its status as a crowd favorite.
Voiced by the talented Jack Black, the “Kung Fu Panda” franchise has been a powerhouse since its inception in 2008, amassing over $1.9 billion in box office revenue worldwide. The series has expanded beyond the silver screen, spawning animated series, shorts, video games, and even a holiday special. With the latest installment playing across 4,067 locations in North America, the film has already garnered a remarkable $107.7 million domestically.
Despite the arrival of several new releases in over 1,000 theaters this weekend, including Lionsgate’s heartwarming tale “Arthur the King,” Focus Features’ satirical comedy “The American Society of Magical Negroes,” and A24’s gripping thriller “Love Lies Bleeding” starring Kristen Stewart, the charts remained dominated by established franchises.
“Dune: Part Two,” the highly anticipated sequel, secured a close second spot in its third weekend, with an impressive $29.1 million in ticket sales. Remarkably, this marks only a 37% decline from the previous weekend. The film has now accumulated $205.3 million domestically, further solidifying its commercial success. Notably, the first installment of “Dune,” released simultaneously in theaters and on streaming platforms, grossed around $435 million globally. However, “Part Two” has already surpassed the $500 million mark worldwide, underscoring its widespread appeal and enduring popularity among audiences.
