Ahead of its July 2025 premiere, the Private Tutor to the Duke’s Daughter anime has revealed that Ami Maeshima, known for her role as Makeru in Komi Can’t Communicate, will voice Karen. Maeshima will also perform the series’ opening song, titled “Wish for You.”
The anime, based on the light novels by Riku Nanano and cura, is set to announce additional cast members, including those for Lynne, Stella, Karen, and Felicia, over the next few weeks. Directed by Nobuyoshi Nagayama (AYAKA) at Studio Blanc, the series features Kazuya Ishikura as assistant director, Megumi Shimizu (Banished from the Hero’s Party) handling series composition, Akiko Toyoda (Girlfriend, Girlfriend) on character design, and Kei Haneoka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) composing the music.
J-Novel Club, which publishes the English version of the light novels, describes the story as follows:
After failing his final exam for a royal court position, young sorcerer Allen is left with no choice but to seek work in the countryside. His only opportunity is a position as a private tutor for Duke Howard’s daughter, Tina. Despite her exceptional intelligence, Tina struggles with magic, unable to cast even a single spell. With the Royal Academy’s entrance exams looming, Allen must find a way to help her overcome her magical impairment, a challenge that has baffled even the kingdom’s top sorcerers. But does the Duke truly want him to succeed?
