The anime adaptation of Kowloon Generic Romance is now airing, offering viewers a glimpse into the surreal and nostalgic world of Kowloon Walled City. The series, which features creditless opening and ending sequences, creates an intriguing atmosphere as it unfolds.
Based on the Kowloon Generic Romance manga by Jun Mayuzuki, the story has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump since November 2019. Yen Press also publishes the series in English. The anime is directed by Yoshiaki Iwasaki at ARVO ANIMATION, with Jin Tanaka handling the series composition and scriptwriting. Yuka Shibata is responsible for character designs, while Yuji Kaneko provides art direction.
Crunchyroll is currently streaming the series, which follows real estate agents Reiko Kujirai and Hajime Kudo as they navigate life in the Kowloon Walled City. As they spend more time together, Reiko develops feelings for Hajime. However, her world is shaken when she discovers a photo of Hajime with his former fiancée—a woman who looks eerily like her. This discovery leads Reiko to realize a disturbing truth: she has no memory of her own past.
