Plans for Devil May Cry Season 2 are officially underway. The announcement comes just after the first season of the animated series premiered earlier this month. While specific details are scarce, fans can expect more from the show in the near future.
The official announcement art for Season 2 simply notes that it is “coming soon.”
The first season of Devil May Cry made a strong debut, ranking #4 on Netflix’s global top 10 with 5.3 million views in its first three days. The series also ranked in the top 10 in 87 countries, according to Netflix.
Based on the popular Capcom game, Devil May Cry originally launched in 2001 on PlayStation 2. The game was created by Hideki Kamiya, known for his work on Okami and Bayonetta. The franchise previously inspired a 2007 anime adaptation by Madhouse.
The Netflix animated series, produced by showrunner Adi Shankar and Studio Mir, follows Dante, a demon hunter who becomes entangled in a battle between the human and demon realms. Unaware of the significance of his actions, Dante’s journey holds the fate of both worlds in his hands.
