Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Art World Tales, the 44th installment in the Doraemon anime franchise, continued its dominance at the Japanese box office, earning 323 million yen (2.18 million USD) in its fifth weekend. With 263,000 admissions, the film maintained its No. 1 spot despite a 26% drop in earnings compared to the previous weekend. The movie has now stayed at the top for five consecutive weekends since its release on March 7. The longest-running Doraemon film at No. 1 remains the 39th entry, Nobita’s Chronicle of the Moon Exploration, which topped the box office for six weekends in 2019.
The film’s cumulative total has now reached 3.7 billion yen (25 million USD), making it the ninth highest-grossing film in the franchise since 2000. It has surpassed the 32nd film, Nobita and the Island of Miracles—Animal Adventure, which grossed 3.62 billion yen (24.49 million USD) in 2012.
Meanwhile, HYPNOSISMIC -Division Rap Battle-, the first feature film from the rap battle-themed HYPNOSISMIC project, saw a rise in rankings, moving up four spots to No. 6 in its seventh weekend. The film’s official X (formerly Twitter) account announced on April 7 that its cumulative total had surpassed one billion yen (6.76 million USD), making it the fourth anime film to reach that milestone in 2025, joining Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Art World Tales, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-, and Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing.
In contrast, the live-action adaptation of Mashiro’s romantic comedy manga My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 slipped two spots to No. 7 in its second weekend.
