The latest arc of Black Butler, titled Emerald Witch Arc, is now streaming on Crunchyroll. Viewers can watch the opening and ending songs in creditless versions, featuring “MAISIE” by Cö shu Nie featuring HYDE and “WALTZ” by Ryugujo.
The Emerald Witch Arc continues under the direction of Kenjiro Okada, known for his work on March Comes in Like a Lion, at CloverWorks studio. Hiroyuki Yoshino, who worked on World Trigger, is handling the series composition, while Yumi Shimizu, the chief animation director for Horimiya, designs the characters. The main cast members, Maaya Sakamoto and Daisuke Ono, return to voice Ciel Phantomhive and Sebastian Michaelis, respectively.
Black Butler, created by Yana Toboso, debuted in 2006 in Square Enix’s Monthly GFantasy magazine. With 34 volumes released in Japan, the series has an English-language edition available through Yen Press. Crunchyroll offers the full series and provides this description of the plot:
Ciel Phantomhive, the most powerful boy in England, carries the trauma of watching his parents’ brutal murder. After being abducted and tortured, he makes a pact with Sebastian, a demon butler from hell, trading his soul for vengeance. Together, they fight to eradicate evil from the streets of London.
