A new Kaiju No. 8 character trailer has been released, focusing on Vice Captain Soshiro Hoshina as Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon prepares for its premiere next month. The trailer showcases Hoshina’s swordsmanship, fighting skills, and humorous side.
The Mission Recon omnibus will recap Season 1 and feature a new episode titled “Hoshina’s Day Off,” along with the new ending theme “Invincible” by OneRepublic. The film will be released in Japan on March 28, with North American screenings on April 13, 14, and 16. Tickets for North America are available online.
The anime, based on Naoya Matsumoto’s manga serialized in Shonen Jump+, is directed by Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya at Production I.G. The second season is scheduled for July 2025, with Crunchyroll streaming it.
The series follows Kafka Hibino, who transforms into “Kaiju No. 8” while working in monster disposal. Alongside his colleague Reno Ichikawa, Kafka hides his identity and strives to join the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force.
The Mission Recon film will feature “Hoshina’s Day Off,” where Reno, unsure how to spend his free time, follows Hoshina, leading to unexpected events.
