Chainsaw Man Anime Film “The Movie: Reze Arc” Set for September 19 Premiere in Japan

The highly anticipated anime film Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc will debut in Japanese theaters on September 19, 2025, according to an announcement made during the Chainsaw Man panel at AnimeJapan 2025. In celebration of the film’s release, 12 new character visuals were unveiled, showcasing the redesigned cast, including the new look for Reze.

The film will be directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, who previously directed episodes 4 and 10 of the Chainsaw Man TV series and has also worked on Black Clover. Hiroshi Seko, who has written the script for the TV anime, returns to pen the script for the film. Kazutaka Sugiyama will serve as the Character Designer, with Souta Yamazaki as Sub Character Designer. The action scenes will be directed by Sota Shigetsugu, and Shoichi will act as the main animator. Riki Matsuura will design the devils, working alongside Kiyotaka Oshiyama, the director of Look Back.

The Chainsaw Man TV anime, based on the manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, originally aired in Japan on October 11, 2022, with Crunchyroll streaming it worldwide. The series follows Denji, a young man living in poverty due to his father’s debts. He works alongside Pochita, a Chainsaw Devil, to pay off the debt by hunting devils. After being betrayed and killed, Denji forms a contract with Pochita and is revived as Chainsaw Man, a man with the heart of a devil.
