After two years of speculation, the next Digimon anime series has been confirmed. During this morning’s Digimon Con event, Bandai announced Digimon Beatbreak, which will premiere in October. A teaser trailer was also revealed, offering the first look at the highly anticipated series.
Details about Digimon Beatbreak remain scarce. It is unclear whether the series will follow the traditional multi-protagonist format or focus on a single Digi-Destined, as suggested by the first-look image. A shift to a single protagonist would be a significant change, aligning more with the franchise’s video games, where one character partners with multiple Digimon.
Fans outside Japan are still waiting to learn which streaming platform will carry the series. Crunchyroll and Netflix have been key distributors of Digimon content, though other platforms like Hulu and Prime Video are expanding their anime offerings. Digimon Beatbreak could mark a significant moment for whichever platform picks it up.
Earlier this week, Digimon fans were intrigued by the trademarking of Digimon Alysion. While initially thought to be the new anime title, it was later revealed that Digimon Alysion is a new mobile game based on the Digimon Trading Card Game, coming soon to Android and iOS.
Digimon Beatbreak will be the first anime in the franchise since Digimon Ghost Game, which concluded in 2023. The last major Digimon project was Digimon Adventure Tri, a set of TV movies marking the 20th anniversary. A short film celebrating the franchise’s 25th anniversary was also recently released.
Digimon Beatbreak is set to premiere in October, though the exact release window is still to be announced.
