Aura Prods. has announced a partnership with Vidu, an AI-powered content creation platform from ShengShu Technology, to develop an original anime series using advanced artificial intelligence animation technology.
The collaboration was unveiled at Hong Kong FilMart, where Aura Prods. detailed plans for a 50-episode short-form anime series set to launch on major social media platforms in 2025. The project aims to blend AI capabilities with traditional storytelling techniques, pushing the boundaries of digital entertainment. Tenten Wei will serve as the head producer.
Producer Luo Yan highlighted the unique artistic approach of the series, noting its fusion of American storytelling with Japanese animation aesthetics. “American comics and animations often lack the striking visual style of Japanese manga and anime, making them less memorable for younger audiences,” Luo said.
Showrunner D.T. Carpenter emphasized AI’s transformative role in animation. “AI is no longer just a tool; it enhances creativity by allowing us to scale production while preserving artistic integrity,” Carpenter said. “This partnership marks a new era where technology and storytelling merge to create visually stunning and emotionally engaging experiences.”
Aura Prods., co-founded by Luo and Carpenter, focuses on youth-oriented anime that combines Asian visual elements with Hollywood-style narratives. Carpenter is also set to speak at Hong Kong FilMart’s AI-in-Entertainment Panel, discussing the evolving role of artificial intelligence in content creation.
Founded in March 2023, ShengShu Technology has rapidly gained prominence in the AI industry with its multimodal large-language models. Its flagship Vidu platform serves users in over 200 countries across interactive entertainment, advertising, film, animation, and cultural tourism sectors.
