The highly anticipated anime My Hero Academia: Vigilantes has officially revealed its episode count. While excitement for the series is fueled by the immense popularity of the main My Hero Academia franchise, the spin-off’s first season will be relatively short.
Fans of My Hero Academia have eagerly awaited the anime adaptation of Vigilantes, a prequel that takes place before Izuku Midoriya’s journey. A trailer for the series has already been released, along with an official premiere date. My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is set to debut on April 7, 2025, just a month away.
One of the biggest questions surrounding the anime was its episode length. The original Vigilantes manga is not a short series, providing ample material for adaptation. However, recent reports have confirmed that the first season will consist of only 13 episodes, making it a compact release.
Although 13 episodes may seem brief, the possibility of additional content remains if the series performs well. With the main My Hero Academia anime nearing its conclusion and the manga already completed, Vigilantes could become the primary source of new content for fans of the franchise.
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes ran as a manga series from 2016 to 2022, spanning six years and concluding with 15 volumes. This extensive source material offers plenty of potential for future adaptations.
Unlike the main series, Vigilantes was not written by My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi but by Hideyuki Furuhashi. However, Horikoshi has acknowledged the spin-off as canon within the MHA universe.
The story of Vigilantes takes place five years before My Hero Academia and follows Koichi, a young man recruited to become a vigilante. With the anime’s release approaching, fans are eager to see how this prequel expands the beloved franchise.
