Konami has revealed plans for an anime adaptation of Suikoden II and the launch of a new mobile game for the franchise. The anime, titled Suikoden: The Anime, will be directed by Yuzo Sato, known for his work on Exception. The anime will be produced by KONAMI’s newly-formed in-house studio, KONAMI animation.
Originally released in 1998, Suikoden II is a turn-based RPG developed by Konami Digital Entertainment. The game follows a young hero caught in the midst of a war between rival nations. It’s well-regarded for its large cast of recruitable characters, political storytelling, and strategic battles.

Along with the anime announcement, KONAMI unveiled a new logo for the series. Director Yuzo Sato shared his excitement about the project, stating, “I am truly honored to be involved in the anime adaptation of Suikoden! The series’ vast world and diverse characters create an incredible story. We aim to not just adapt the game, but to expand the Suikoden universe and reveal new layers of its appeal. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the franchise, we hope to create a series that everyone will enjoy.”
Additionally, Suikoden is receiving an HD remastered version of both Suikoden I and Suikoden II, set for release on March 6. A launch trailer for the remastered game has also been released.
Story of Suikoden II:
In Suikoden II, the protagonist and his friend Jowy are members of the Unicorn Youth Brigade, caught up in a border dispute between the Highland Kingdom and the City-States of Jowston. While a truce agreement has ended the fighting, tensions remain as the threat of war continues to simmer beneath the surface.
Fans can look forward to both the new anime and the remastered game as exciting additions to the Suikoden universe.
