A trailer and theatrical poster for Volicia of Pluto Chapter Two: Gunjou, the new yuri mecha anime by Arata Hirasaka, have been released as the film prepares for its April 21, 2025 premiere at Nagoya’s Osu Cinema.
Additionally, the anime will have a special screening at Ikebukuro’s Animate Theater on May 5, 2025.
Originally scheduled for a winter 2024 release, the film reached its crowdfunding goal of 1 million yen (~US$6,680) in July 2023.
The first chapter, Volicia of Pluto Chapter One: Gouka, premiered on YouTube with English subtitles in the same month. The series follows Akio Hoshigami, a high school girl who loses her chance to become a track-and-field runner after a leg injury, and subsequently pilots a giant robot powered by the soul of her best friend, Ayano Umisoe.
Arata Hirasaka, known for Vapor Trail (2021) and Penetrate Blue: -Vapor Trail Another Age 2824- (2022), has made these works available on YouTube. A web novel adaptation of Vapor Trail was serialized on Kakuyomu from 2020 to 2021.
