Animator Manami Honda, known online as Honda, has released “Yell for You,” their graduation project, which takes the form of an anime opening. The character designs evoke a cute, slice-of-life comedy, though the video also includes dramatic elements.
“Yell for You” showcases Honda’s skills in drawing, animation, color, and compositing. The video features a variety of aesthetic styles, including pixel art game-inspired shots, letterboxing, and a raw black-and-white sketch-like sequence with video artifacts.
Honda has experience in professional anime productions, having worked as a key animator or second key animator in shows like The Elusive Samurai, Jujutsu Kaisen Season , Chainsaw Man, takt.Op Destiny, Soaring Sky! Precure, and the opening of Bocchi the Rock!.
Honda used CLIPSTUDIO, After Effects, and ibisPaint for the project. The song featured is the Vocaloid GUMI’s “Zettai Zetsumei”.
