The studio known for iconic series like Gundam and Code Geass is preparing to debut a new Isekai anime titled My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s this Fall. Isekai anime have seen a resurgence recently, introducing fresh perspectives on this popular light novel subgenre. However, the increasing number of these shows each year is prompting a return to more traditional storytelling within new fantasy settings.
Originally launched as a light novel series by Matsuri Akai and Tozai in 2017, My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s will finally make its anime debut in October. The animation is being produced by Sunrise, the studio behind beloved titles such as Mobile Suit Gundam and Inuyasha. A trailer showcasing the anime’s animation has been released, along with a promotional poster.

The anime is scheduled for release sometime in October 2025, although a specific date has not yet been confirmed. Noboyoshi Habara will direct the series, with TMS Entertainment producing. The script will be handled by Kunihiko Okada, while character designs are by Hirona Okada and Kaori Saito. Masahiro Yamane will design the monsters, and Satoshi Igarashi will compose the music. The first voice cast members have also been announced.
The main characters will be voiced by Takeo Otsuka as Akira Oda and Saku Mizuno as Amelia Rosequartz, who are central to the story highlighted in the trailer and poster. As the release date approaches, more character details are expected to be revealed to fans.
