In the Attack on Titan universe, the brave members of the Survey Corps are the last line of defense against the terrifying Titans that threaten humanity’s existence. They have mastered their omni-directional mobility gear and thunder spears to combat these enormous creatures. But what if the Survey Corps faced off against other legendary gigantic monsters from popular media? Let’s imagine how the Survey Corps might fare in a showdown against some of the most famous kaiju, with the assumption that they are allowed to use their specialized weapons and fight in an urban environment.
Survey Corps VS Godzilla
The King of Monsters, Godzilla, is an iconic kaiju who comes in many different forms across movies, comics, and video games. While the Survey Corps is certainly formidable, it would take the right version of Godzilla to give them a fighting chance.
1998 Godzilla (Zilla)
This version of Godzilla is probably the weakest iteration, known more for its resemblance to a giant T-Rex rather than the towering, invincible monster that fans are familiar with. With no atomic breath and weak overall abilities, Zilla could potentially be defeated by the Survey Corps using thunder spears. After all, jets were able to take it down in its own film, so a well-aimed volley from the Survey Corps would likely do the job.
Shin Godzilla (Early Forms)
Shin Godzilla’s first three forms are notably weaker than the full-fledged, nuclear-powered fourth form. The second form of Shin Godzilla, a clumsy and slow creature, would likely fall to the Survey Corps without too much trouble. Even though it has a horrifying appearance, the second form’s weakness lies in its lack of mobility and defensive strength. The third form, though more formidable with evolving legs, still doesn’t present enough of a threat for the highly trained Survey Corps, especially with their speed and thunder spears.
Minus One Godzilla
This version of Godzilla has an incredible regenerative ability, making it a tough opponent. While thunder spears could damage Minus One Godzilla, its healing factor would likely prove to be a major obstacle. The Survey Corps could potentially wear it down, but it’s unclear whether they could ever permanently defeat it. Unless they target a vital weakness, this fight could be a drawn-out battle with no definitive winner.
Other Godzilla Variants
Unfortunately, for the Survey Corps, most other Godzilla versions are simply too large, too durable, or have abilities beyond what the Corps can handle. With atomic breath, extreme durability, and sheer size, Godzilla from the Shin Godzilla fourth form onward would decimate the Survey Corps before they could even land a successful attack.
Survey Corps VS King Kong
Like Godzilla, King Kong has many iterations across various films, and the Survey Corps’ chances would depend heavily on which version they’re up against.
1933 King Kong
This early version of Kong is around 25-50 feet tall and was easily overpowered by regular-sized creatures like T-Rexes. The Survey Corps, equipped with their mobility gear, would likely have no trouble taking down this Kong, especially since he lacks much of the strength or durability of later versions.
2005 King Kong
The King Kong from the 2005 film is a bit stronger, fighting and defeating multiple Vastatosaurus Rex at once. However, Kong is still only about 25-35 feet tall and was taken down by aircraft gunfire. A series of well-placed thunder spears would certainly be enough to defeat this version of Kong.
1986 King Kong (King Kong Lives)
This Kong is significantly more durable, surviving missile and tank fire before striking back at the enemies. He’s tougher than the 2005 version, and the Survey Corps would face a much harder time in a prolonged battle. They’d need a lucky shot or quick strategy to take him down, as Kong could likely overpower them in a drawn-out fight.
2017 King Kong (Kong: Skull Island)
The Kong from Kong: Skull Island is massive—about 104 feet tall—but still lacks the experience and wisdom of the older versions. While stronger and tougher than his predecessors, this Kong was still harmed by gunfire from helicopters, which suggests that thunder spears could deal significant damage. The Survey Corps could potentially take him down after a tough battle, using their speed and mobility to land consistent hits.
Survey Corps VS Other Kaiju
Gamera
Gamera, a giant turtle kaiju, has immense durability and can fly, making him a tough opponent for the Survey Corps. However, Gamera’s sluggishness when on the ground could give the Corps an advantage. Their ability to use the environment to their advantage with the omni-directional mobility gear might allow them to land a few critical strikes, but unless they target a specific weakness, this would be a challenging fight for the Survey Corps.
Kaiju from Kaiju No. 8
In Kaiju No. 8, the kaiju are not only massive but also incredibly fast and powerful. The Survey Corps would have their work cut out for them here, especially considering the advanced abilities of these creatures. While they could still hold their own using thunder spears and their maneuverability, they would need to be incredibly strategic to defeat these kaiju.
Conclusion
When facing off against other kaiju, the Survey Corps might have a fighting chance against certain, weaker versions of iconic monsters like Godzilla and King Kong. However, they would struggle against larger, more powerful kaiju that can regenerate or unleash devastating attacks. While their agility and thunder spears give them an edge in terms of mobility and offensive power, the sheer durability, size, and elemental abilities of most kaiju would prove difficult challenges.
Ultimately, the Survey Corps’ victory would depend on the size and power level of the kaiju they face, but when pitted against the right monsters—like 1998 Zilla or 1933 Kong—they may very well emerge victorious.
