Goku is undeniably one of the most iconic protagonists in anime history, and his power and unrelenting drive for strength have made him a beloved character for decades. While the Saiyan warrior has faced countless powerful foes, there are still a few notable characters in the Dragon Ball universe who never had a chance to battle him. Here are seven of the strongest characters in Dragon Ball who never fought Goku—despite their immense power.
1. Evil Buu
The Version of Buu That Got Away
While Goku clashed with Majin Buu in many forms during the Buu Saga, there’s one version he never faced: Evil Buu. This version of Buu, who defeated Good Buu, was strong enough to take on even the mightiest of opponents. Given that Goku was more powerful than Good Buu, a fight between him and Evil Buu would have been a thrilling battle to witness.
2. King Cold
Frieza’s Father Never Got His Moment
Frieza is Goku’s most iconic adversary, and thanks to Dragon Ball Super, the two have faced off multiple times. However, Frieza’s father, King Cold, never got the chance to avenge his son. After Trunks quickly dispatched King Cold, fans never got to see how a fight between Goku and the powerful ruler would have played out. While Goku would have likely defeated him, it would have been an interesting addition to the saga.
3. Dabura
The Demon King Who Never Faced Goku
Demon King Dabura, introduced in the Buu Saga, was a formidable foe capable of overpowering Super Saiyan 2 Gohan. However, Goku never crossed paths with Dabura since he was busy battling Majin Vegeta at the time. With Dabura’s magical abilities and stone-spitting powers, a fight between the two would have been an intense challenge for Goku, especially if Dabura used his full range of tricks.
4. Android 18
The Android Who Never Fought Goku
Android 18 was one of the toughest opponents introduced after the Frieza Saga, giving Vegeta one of his most brutal beatdowns. Despite her prominence in Dragon Ball Z, Android 18 and Goku never squared off. While she’s fought plenty of powerful foes throughout the series, including Vegeta, Goku has yet to clash with her—making their potential fight one of the most missed opportunities in the franchise.
5. Zarbon
Frieza’s Powerful Henchman
Zarbon, a high-ranking member of the Frieza Force, was incredibly strong, as shown when he effortlessly defeated Vegeta during their first battle on Namek. However, Zarbon’s encounter with Goku never happened, as he was taken out by Vegeta in their rematch. Had Goku fought Zarbon, it’s likely he would have emerged victorious, but it would still have been a satisfying moment for fans to see Goku take down one of Frieza’s strongest subordinates.
6. God of Destruction Toppo
A Powerful Force in the Tournament of Power
While Goku fought Toppo several times during Dragon Ball Super, he never faced him in his God of Destruction form. This version of Toppo was an absolute powerhouse, even forcing Vegeta to use his Final Explosion move to knock him out of the tournament. Had Goku fought God of Destruction Toppo, it’s hard to say how the battle would have gone—Toppo’s overwhelming strength and Hakai abilities would have been a serious challenge for even Goku’s Ultra Instinct.
7. Android 16
The Android Who Was Programmed to Kill Goku
Android 16 was one of the most powerful androids ever created, even surpassing Androids 17 and 18 in strength. His mission was to destroy Goku, but the two never ended up facing off. Given Goku’s condition during the Cell Saga, it’s possible that Android 16 could have defeated him—making him one of the few characters who could have killed Goku had they fought.
