GKIDS has officially announced it will screen the first three episodes of the Witch Watch TV anime series in North American theaters on March 16, 2025. This event, titled Witch Watch: Watch Party, will feature exclusive interviews along with the screenings.
Global Screening Across Multiple Regions
Alongside its North American release, GKIDS will present the series in Europe and Asia. Additional screenings will be hosted by ADN and Aniplus in their respective regions.
Crunchyroll and Netflix to Stream the Series
Witch Watch will also be available for streaming starting in April 2025 when it debuts in Japan. Crunchyroll and Netflix have confirmed their involvement in streaming the anime. Crunchyroll will stream the series internationally across regions such as North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Key Staff and Production Details
Directed by Ikehata Hiroshi, known for works like i☆Ris the Movie – Full Energy!! and Akiba’s Trip The Animation, Witch Watch is set to be an exciting addition to the anime lineup. The series will have a total of two cours (seasons). Masao Kawase, a co-director of i☆Ris the Movie, is serving as the assistant director, while Deko Akao, the screenwriter for VTuber Legend: How I Went Viral After Forgetting to Turn Off My Stream, is handling the scriptwriting.
Character design is by Haruko Iizuka, whose previous works include The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies, and Kaishu Sugimura, who worked on A Condition Called Love. Animation production is entrusted to Bibury Animation Studio.

Witch Watch Manga and Synopsis
The Witch Watch manga, written by Kenta Shinohara, debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump on February 8, 2021. As of January 2025, it has released 20 volumes. The story follows Morihito Otogi, whose family lineage is tied to ogre familiars, granting him immense strength. Morihito is tasked with becoming the familiar of his childhood friend, Nico Wakatsuki, a teenage witch. The two must live together, with Morihito dedicated to protecting her from threats, even though Nico harbors feelings for him, which complicates their relationship. The situation grows more intense as Nico is burdened by a prophecy of doom.
Viz Media releases the manga in English digitally, summarizing the story as a blend of magic, protection, and the complexities of unspoken love.
