Kodansha has confirmed that the anime adaptation of With You and the Rain (Ame to Kimi to) will debut in July 2025, as announced in the eighth issue of Weekly Young Magazine this year. Along with the premiere date, the main cast and production team were also revealed.
The anime’s cast includes:
Saori Hayami as Fuji
Yuna Kamakura as Mimi
Satomi Satō as Ren
Yuzu Yumoto as Krause Ella Kii
Lesprit is handling the production and animation, with Tomohiro Tsukimisato directing. The series’ scripts will be written by Touko Machida, and Ayano Ōwada will be designing the characters. More details about the cast and staff will be shared in the future.

The With You and the Rain manga, written by Kō Nikaido, began serialization in Weekly Young Magazine in August 2020 and is ongoing. As of September 5, 2024, Kodansha released the seventh volume in Japan. In the U.S., Kodansha USA Publishing released the sixth volume on May 28, 2024, and the release date for the seventh volume has yet to be announced. The manga surpassed 500,000 copies in circulation as of August 2024.
Here’s a brief synopsis of the story, courtesy of Kodansha USA Publishing: “If it looks like a dog and acts like a dog and insists it’s a dog, it’s… a dog? Probably? She adopted it anyway, and her life with this ‘dog’ will never be boring!”
