Atsushi Nigorikawa (known for A Destructive God Sits Next to Me, Between the Sky and Sea, and Beast Tamer) is directing the series at EMT Squared. The character designs, originally created by Chorefuji, are being adapted for animation by Yuki Shizuku, who worked on Smile of the Arsnotoria the Animation and Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout. Keiichirō Ōchi, known for his work on Adachi and Shimamura and The Quintessential Quintuplets, is overseeing the series’ scripts.

The English translation of the light novels is being published by Yen Press. The story follows Meg, an apprentice witch, who learns on her seventeenth birthday that she only has one year left to live. Her teacher, Faust, reveals that the only way to reverse the curse is for Meg to collect tears of joy and nurture the seed of life. To do this, she must venture into the world, forming bonds and experiencing both joy and heartbreak. The journey promises valuable lessons for the young witch, centered around growth, loss, and discovery.

The light novel series, written by Saka, was first published on the Kakuyomu website in October 2019 and concluded in August 2022. Kadokawa has been releasing the novels in print with illustrations by Chorefuji, and the second volume was released on July 17.

Additionally, a manga adaptation by Kenu Amearare began in March 2023 on the KadoComi (Comic Walker) website, with the third volume published on September 27.
