Kadokawa Unveils Clean Ending Credits for My Happy Marriage Season 2

Kadokawa has released the clean ending credits sequence for the second season of My Happy Marriage (Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon), based on the popular light novel series by Akumi Agitogi and Tsukiho Tsukioka. The sequence, which features the ending theme song “Tsukikage Okuri” (Moonlight Sending) by Kashitarō Itō, was revealed on Friday, December 20, 2024.

The anime’s second season is set to debut on January 6, 2024, airing on multiple networks, including Tokyo MX, BS11, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, and TV Aichi. The series will also be available on AT-X beginning January 7, and Netflix will begin streaming it on January 6.

Behind-the-Scenes Changes

My Happy Marriage Season 2 sees Masayuki Kojima joining returning director Takehiro Kubota at Kinema Citrus. Kojima previously worked as a storyboard artist and episode director for the first season.

Ami Satō returns to oversee the series scripts, now credited solo. She is co-writing the scripts with Misato Hashiba, Fūka Ishii, and Momoka Toyoda. Shōko Yasuda remains the character designer, with Kuniyuki Itō handling sub-character design. Emi Katanosaka is back as the art director, and Osamu Masuyama continues in his role as art advisor. Masayuki Kurosawa returns for editing duties, while Takahiro Ikeda supervises the music production, with MIRACLE BUS producing the soundtrack in collaboration with Kinema Citrus and Kadokawa.

Riria. will perform the opening theme song “Shiawase no Yakusoku” (A Happy Promise).

Previous Seasons and Adaptations

The first season of My Happy Marriage premiered in July 2023, featuring 12 episodes. It was simultaneously streamed worldwide on Netflix. Additionally, the eighth volume of the light novel series will include a new original anime titled Shiawase no Katachi (The Shape of Happiness), which will be released on Blu-ray Disc on March 15, 2024. The OVA will also be available on streaming services starting November 22, 2024, in conjunction with “Good Couple Day” in Japan.

The light novel series, which began in January 2019, is licensed by Yen Press. The story follows Miyo, a young woman born into a noble family, who faces abuse at the hands of her stepmother and is arranged to marry Kiyoka, a cold and distant soldier. Despite a rocky start, Miyo begins to open her heart to her seemingly heartless husband, offering her a chance at finding true love and happiness.

Rito Kohsaka’s manga adaptation of the series was first serialized in December 2018 on Square Enix’s Gangan Online platform, with Square Enix Manga & Books publishing the English version.

In addition to the anime, My Happy Marriage has been adapted into a live-action film, which opened in Japan in March 2023. The film was a commercial success, ranking #1 in its opening weekend and grossing 654 million yen (approximately US$4.97 million) in its first three days, selling nearly 480,000 tickets.
