Shinichiro Watanabe’s highly anticipated original anime Lazarus has unveiled new visuals and exciting details about its theme songs. The opening song, titled “Vortex,” will be performed by renowned American saxophonist Kamasi Washington, who is also credited with composing music for the series. The ending theme, “Lazarus,” will be performed by the English rock band The Boo Radleys.
A Star-Studded Team
The anime, set to premiere in 2025 on Adult Swim, will consist of 13 episodes. Studio MAPPA, known for its work on critically acclaimed series, is handling the animation, with Sola Entertainment serving as the producer.
In addition to Watanabe as the original creator and director, the project features an impressive lineup of talent, including:

Plot Synopsis
Set in the year 2052, Lazarus takes place in a world experiencing unprecedented peace and prosperity. This utopia is made possible by Hapuna, a miracle drug developed by Nobel Prize-winning neuroscientist Dr. Skinner. Hapuna eliminates sickness and pain, becoming an essential part of human life.
However, the peace is short-lived. Shortly after Hapuna’s global introduction, Dr. Skinner mysteriously disappears. Three years later, he reemerges with a dire warning: Hapuna has a fatal flaw. The drug’s short half-life means that everyone who has taken it will die within three years.
In response to this crisis, a global task force of five elite agents, known as “Lazarus,” is assembled to stop Dr. Skinner and develop a vaccine before it’s too late. Their mission: to save humanity from impending doom.
