Manga Origins and Plot Overview
Medaka Kuroiwa Is Impervious to My Charms is based on the manga written and illustrated by Ran Kuze. The manga originally began as a one-shot in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in December 2020 before transitioning to a serialized format in May 2021. Kodansha USA is publishing the English translation of the series.
The story centers on Mona Kawai, the most popular and attractive girl in her school, who meets Medaka Kuroiwa, a new transfer student. Unlike everyone else, Medaka is immune to Mona’s charm, prompting her to try various methods to win his affection. As the story unfolds, Mona discovers that Medaka is far more resilient than she anticipated, leading to a slow but inevitable shift in her feelings toward him.
With the anime set to debut in January, Medaka Kuroiwa Is Impervious to My Charms is poised to capture the attention of fans of romantic comedies and high school dramas.
