A new trailer for the upcoming anime adaptation of The Dinner Table Detective has been released, confirming its highly anticipated debut in April 2025. The anime is based on the novels by Tokuya Higashigawa, which have garnered widespread attention since their debut in 2007.
The trailer, along with details on the main staff and cast, offers a glimpse into the production that will bring the beloved detective series to the screen. Directed by Mitsuyuki Masuhara, known for his work on Ace of the Diamond, the anime features series composition by Mariko Kunisawa, famed for BARTENDER Glass of God, and character designs by Izumi Kawata. The series is produced by MADHOUSE.
The primary cast for the series includes Kana Hanazawa as Reiko, Yuki Kaji as Kageyama, and Mamoru Miyano as Kazamatsuri. These well-known voice actors are expected to bring the characters to life in this thrilling mystery adaptation.
The Dinner Table Detective has enjoyed a broad media presence over the years, having inspired a stage play, live-action series, specials, and a 2013 live-action film. The novels, which feature illustrations by Yusuke Nakamura, have resonated with fans, and manga author Oreko Tachibana is adapting the original character designs for the anime.
The plot follows Reiko Hosho, the daughter of the world-renowned Hosho Group’s owner, as she embarks on her journey as a rookie detective. Reiko partners with Kazamatsuri, the son of the Kazamatsuri Motors owner, to tackle complex cases. Reiko also frequently seeks the advice of her butler and driver, Kageyama, whose gruff demeanor and harsh words do little to deter her from solving the mysteries at hand.
Fans can look forward to the series’ premiere in April 2025.
