The highly anticipated anime adaptation of The Beginning After The End has unveiled a new trailer, offering fans a deeper glimpse into the story of King Grey’s reincarnation as Arthur “Art” Leywin. Alongside the trailer, the anime’s official X account (formerly Twitter) confirmed a release window for April 2025 and announced the addition of two prominent voice actors to the cast.
A Tale of Rebirth and Redemption
The trailer showcases pivotal moments from the series, starting with King Grey’s stoic reign and subsequent rebirth as a child named Art. The young protagonist embarks on a journey of self-discovery, striving to find purpose in his second life while learning to value connection and compassion. However, his peaceful existence is disrupted by battles against bandits and monstrous foes, as teased in the action-packed footage.
The trailer also reveals a timeskip, showing a more solitary and matured Art, hinting at new challenges ahead. Fans can look forward to performances by Natsumi Fujiwara as Art and Makoto Furukawa as King Grey, adding depth to the adaptation.
From Web Novel to Global Phenomenon
The Beginning After The End originated as a self-published web novel on Royal Road, later gaining widespread popularity on Tapas. It was eventually adapted into a webcomic, now in its sixth season. After a brief hiatus due to contractual disputes with former studio Fuyuki23, the webcomic resumed in October under MGK-Story.
Author TurtleMe plays a hands-on role in the anime adaptation as a supervisor and executive producer, collaborating with Tapas Entertainment’s Mike Zhu and Kevin Nicklaus, as well as Gabrielle Luu of TurtleMe LLC. Crunchyroll is overseeing worldwide streaming for the series, making it accessible globally, including in India. However, the series will not be available for streaming in other parts of Asia.
Global Acclaim and Record-Breaking Readership
The Beginning After The End has been read over 150 million times globally, solidifying its status as a must-read in the isekai genre. It has also earned a spot on CBR’s list of “10 Underrated Isekai Manhwa You Need to Be Reading.”
The official synopsis describes the series as follows:
“King Grey has unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability. However, solitude lingers closely behind those with great power. Beneath the glamorous exterior of a powerful king lurks the shell of a man, devoid of purpose and will.”
The story explores themes of redemption and self-discovery as King Grey, reincarnated into a world of magic and monsters, attempts to correct past mistakes while navigating new dangers that threaten the very fabric of his second chance.
Fans can follow The Beginning After The End webcomic, updated every Thursday, and prepare for the anime’s premiere in April 2025.
