Toei Animation’s iconic anime series One Piece will return in April 2025 with a new timeslot as it continues its Egghead Arc.
A Historic Hiatus and a Fresh Start
After more than two decades of continuous weekly broadcasts, the One Piece anime is currently on its first extended hiatus. Announced earlier this fall, the break was implemented to allow the production team at Toei Animation to prepare for the highly anticipated continuation of the Egghead Arc and future storylines.
While fans await the return of the beloved series, Toei Animation has confirmed that One Piece will air in a brand-new timeslot upon its April 2025 comeback. Replacing One Piece in its previous Sunday broadcast slot will be To Be Hero X, a new anime set to debut as part of the Spring 2025 lineup. The exact timing of One Piece’s new broadcast schedule has not yet been disclosed.
Details on the Egghead Arc’s Return
One Piece’s hiatus, which began in October 2024, is scheduled to end in April 2025. The Egghead Arc’s continuation promises to deliver thrilling developments, but fans will need to adjust to a new viewing schedule. While To Be Hero X claims One Piece’s former Sunday slot, it remains unclear whether the series will air on the same day at a different time or shift to an entirely new day.
These changes could also affect streaming schedules outside Japan, potentially impacting platforms like Crunchyroll and Netflix that provide international access to the series. Fans may gain clarity on these adjustments later this month during Jump Festa 2025. The event is expected to reveal One Piece’s new broadcast details and announce a new voice actor for Franky, following the departure of longtime cast member Kazuki Yao.
Content to Bridge the Gap
Despite the hiatus, One Piece fans won’t be left without new content. Toei Animation is currently airing One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga, a condensed remake of the Fish-Man Island arc. This 21-episode special features updated openings and endings, providing a fresh take on the iconic storyline.
Additionally, fans can revisit older episodes of One Piece on streaming platforms like Netflix and Crunchyroll or explore Eiichiro Oda’s manga, which continues to release new chapters. Digital platforms such as Viz Media’s Shonen Jump library and Shueisha’s MangaPlus offer the latest manga chapters for free, ensuring fans remain engaged with the ongoing adventures of Luffy and his crew.
A New Era for One Piece
As One Piece prepares for its return in 2025, the series is poised to embark on an exciting new phase. With its timeslot shift and continued evolution of the Egghead Arc, fans have much to look forward to. The wait may feel long, but between the ongoing remake and the manga’s steady progression, the world of One Piece remains as vibrant and thrilling as ever.
Stay tuned for updates from Jump Festa 2025 and mark your calendars for April 2025 when the Straw Hat Pirates set sail once more.
