Aniplex announced on Monday that the second season of Fate/Grand Order: Fujimaru Ritsuka wa Wakaranai (Fate/Grand Order: Ritsuka Fujimaru Doesn’t Get It) will conclude with its final episode on December 31. This episode will air as part of the Fate Project New Year’s Eve TV Special 2024, alongside the premiere of Fate/strange Fake – Whispers of Dawn anime special and the first episode of the Fate/strange Fake television anime.
The second season of Fate/Grand Order: Fujimaru Ritsuka wa Wakaranai premiered its first two episodes on August 4. The anime, based on Tsuchida’s slapstick comedy manga, is directed by Tsuchida, who also serves as character designer, writer, technical and compositing director, and editor. This marks his continued involvement in the project, having previously worked on the first season. Last year, the anime received a special New Year’s episode, which aired on December 31, 2023.
The series follows Ritsuka Fujimaru, humanity’s last Master, who played a crucial role in the restoration of humanity but is characterized by his meekness—a key element of the show’s comedic tone. Tsuchida has been serializing the manga on Kadokawa’s Type-Moon Comic Ace platform since June 2020.
Additionally, the Fate/strange Fake anime special Whispers of Dawn, which premiered in Japan in July 2023, is currently available on Crunchyroll with an English dub. The television adaptation of Fate/strange Fake, directed by Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume, will debut its first episode alongside the other two Fate programs on December 31. A-1 Pictures is handling the animation, with a script by Daisuke Daitō and character designs by Yūkei Yamada. Music for the series is composed by Hiroyuki Sawano.
The Fate/strange Fake anime is based on Ryohgo Narita’s spinoff story, which first emerged as an April Fool’s joke in 2008. Narita, best known for his works Baccano! and Durarara!!, later expanded the story into a full light novel series. The latest volume was published by Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko imprint in February 2023, and a manga adaptation, illustrated by Shizuki Morii, is also ongoing.
Fans of the Fate franchise can look forward to an exciting New Year’s Eve, with a lineup of special episodes that highlight the ongoing expansion of the Fate/strange Fake universe.
