Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2025 Returns to Tokyo, Unveils First Celebrity Presenter

Crunchyroll has announced the highly anticipated ninth annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards will return to Tokyo, Japan, on May 25, 2025. The event, set to celebrate excellence in anime, will be hosted at the prestigious Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa. A global live stream and vibrant orange carpet ceremony will precede the main event, ensuring fans worldwide can join the celebration.

First Brazilian Celebrity Presenter Confirmed

During its industry panel at CCXP 2024 in São Paulo, Brazil, Crunchyroll revealed its first-ever Brazilian celebrity presenter for the awards: renowned drag pop icon and anime enthusiast Pabllo Vittar. Additional celebrity presenters from television, film, sports, fashion, and music will be announced in the months leading up to the ceremony, along with musical performers who will add their flair to the event.

Returning Hosts and Opening Remarks

Voice actress and idol Sally Amaki and entertainer Jon Kabira will reprise their roles as co-hosts for the 2025 ceremony. Additionally, Kenichiro Yoshida, Chairman and CEO of Sony Group Corporation, will deliver the opening remarks, continuing a tradition that highlights Sony’s integral connection to the anime industry.

Expanded Eligibility and New Categories

The eligibility period for this year’s awards has been extended, covering anime releases from October 1, 2023, to December 31, 2024, a total of five seasons. Moving forward, the eligibility window will shift to a calendar-year format, running from January 1 to December 31.
