The official YouTube channel of Japanese beverage company Suntory has unveiled a new anime commercial for its gin brand “SUI,” showcasing a character designed by Tsubasa Yamaguchi, the acclaimed author of Blue Period. The commercial, titled SUI to Utaeba (“Singing with SUI”), features a newly arranged version of “Haru” (“Sunny”), a 2024 digital single by suis, the vocalist of the popular Japanese pop unit Yorushika.
The song “Haru” was previously used as the opening theme for the second cour of the anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. The commercial, directed by Yutaro Kubo—who also directed the music video for Yorushika’s 2023 single “Shayo”—captures a surreal transformation of the protagonist’s living room. After sipping Suntory Gin “SUI,” the space morphs into a vibrant meadow with bubbles dancing in the air, blending animation with a touch of magical realism.
This collaboration brings together the worlds of manga, music, and advertising, with Tsubasa Yamaguchi’s unique character design and suis’s evocative music creating an immersive narrative that elevates Suntory’s brand.
