The beloved supernatural anime Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube is making a comeback with a brand-new adaptation, scheduled for release during Japan’s summer 2025 anime season. This updated version is being produced by Studio KAI, bringing a fresh take on the classic series originally aired in 1996.
Based on the manga by Shou Makura and Takeshi Okano, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1993 to 1999, Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube has become a staple in Japan’s anime culture. The series is known for its unique blend of supernatural themes and heartfelt character development.
To celebrate the announcement, a new key visual for the series has been revealed, accompanied by a promotional trailer. Notably, Japanese voice actor Ryotaro Okiayu, recognized for his roles in The Prince of Tennis and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, will voice the protagonist, Meisuke Nueno, also known as “Nube.” In the series, Nube is a charismatic and caring teacher who possesses a hidden power—his left hand is possessed by a demon. This hand grants him the ability to protect his students from ghosts, spirits, and other supernatural threats.
In honor of the upcoming adaptation, It’s Anime, powered by REMOW., is hosting a special giveaway. The event includes a signed shikishi board from Ryotaro Okiayu, and fans from outside Japan are invited to participate through the official X account, @ItsAnimeJP. Additionally, a voice actor contest in Japan will offer one lucky child the opportunity to appear in the anime as a student from Domori Elementary School.
Ryotaro Okiayu shared his excitement for the project, expressing his gratitude with a heartfelt message:
“After receiving the passionate message, ‘We want you to protect the kids of Class 5-3 once more!’ from Makura-sensei and Okano-sensei, the demon’s power returned to my left hand! I have so many feelings that I can’t talk about enough, so I’ll try to make this short…” He continued with a dramatic excerpt from the series, “Heavens and earth, give me the power to defeat this demon and bring forth the light of dawn. Keep your hands off my students!”
Fans can look forward to a fresh adventure as Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube returns to the screen with an all-new anime adaptation.

Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube is set in the town of Domori, where mysterious and inexplicable events have been disturbing the peace. To protect the children of Domori, a new homeroom teacher named “Nube” arrives. While Nube appears to be a kind and outgoing teacher, he harbors a secret: he is Japan’s only psychic teacher, and his left hand is possessed by a demon, granting him unique abilities to fight the supernatural forces threatening his students.
