Dancouga: Super Beast Machine God to Release 40th Anniversary Blu-ray Box Set in March 2025

Ashi Productions’ iconic robot anime Dancouga: Super Beast Machine God will commemorate its 40th anniversary in 2025 with the release of a special Blu-ray box set. The highly anticipated box set will be available starting March 26, 2025, priced at ¥44,000 (approximately $292 USD, excluding tax).

To mark the occasion, a promotional trailer showcasing key moments from the series has been uploaded to the official EMOTION label YouTube channel.

The original Dancouga TV series, which aired from April to December 1985, consists of 38 episodes. This was followed by four OVAs: Ushinawareta Monotachi heno Chinkonka (“Requiem for Victims”) in 1986, SONG SPECIAL Jusenkitai SONGS (a video clip collection) in 1986, GOD BLESS DANCOUGA in 1987, and Hakunetsu no Shusho (“Blazing Epilogue”) in 1989-1990. All of these works will be included in the Blu-ray box set.

The box art has been designed by Masami Obari, the original mechanical designer for the anime. Additional illustrations for the inner jacket are provided by Kazuko Tadano (character designer), Takahiro Yamada, and Hirotoshi Sano. A 100-page booklet will also be included, featuring exclusive new interviews with the voice cast and production staff.

Dancouga: Super Beast Machine God follows the story of a powerful emperor named Muge, who sets his sights on conquering Earth. With the strength of his Empire of Death, Muge poses an unprecedented threat to humanity. The story intensifies with the defection of Shapiro Keats, a human who becomes an informer for the Empire, further bolstering the enemy’s power.
