Solo Leveling -ReAwakening, the highly anticipated anime film, will now hit Indian theaters two days earlier than originally planned. Scheduled to release on December 6, 2024, the film will now open on December 4, 2024, as announced by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
The movie, a compilation of the first season of the Solo Leveling anime, will also provide fans with a preview of the first two episodes of the upcoming second season. Solo Leveling -ReAwakening made its debut in Japan on November 29, 2024.
Crunchyroll describes the film as offering a special theatrical fan experience, combining a recap of the first season with an exclusive look at the initial episodes of season two. The film’s plot follows Sung Jinwoo, a hunter with the lowest rank, as he navigates a world where “gates” connecting Earth to other dimensions allow humans with superhuman abilities, known as hunters, to explore dangerous dungeons. After a near-death encounter in a hidden high-level dungeon, Jinwoo is given the unique ability to level up, setting the stage for his transformation.
The first season of Solo Leveling, produced by A-1 Pictures, aired between January and March 2024. The second season is set to premiere in January 2025.
Crunchyroll is streaming the first season across multiple regions, including North America, Central and South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and India. In Southeast Asia and Oceania (excluding Australia and New Zealand), Solo Leveling is licensed by Medialink.
The Solo Leveling series originates as a web novel by South Korean author Chugong. Serialized on KakaoPage starting in July 2016, the novel was later published by D&C Media. An illustrated webtoon adaptation, which debuted in 2018, concluded its first season in March 2020, and its second season ran from August 2020 to December 2021. The chapters have been collected into 11 volumes as of June 2024.
Additionally, a Korean drama adaptation is in the works, and a spin-off webtoon, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, premiered in August 2024.
