The highly anticipated Fate/strange Fake anime will make its debut on December 31, 2024, as part of a special New Year’s television event celebrating the Fate series. The first episode, featuring a Japanese dub, will be aired during the broadcast, alongside a newly released trailer showcasing key elements of the upcoming series.
In the trailer, viewers are introduced to the central characters and Servants involved in the Snowfield Holy Grail War. Notable figures such as Flat and Caster, as well as familiar characters including Gilgamesh and Enkidu, make appearances. A brief scene also teases the first meeting between Ayaka and Saber, which mirrors the iconic moment when Saber first encounters Shirou in the original Fate series.
Fate/strange Fake is a spin-off of the Fate franchise, based on the light novel series by Ryogo Narita, known for his work on Durarara!! and Baccano!. The story is set in Nevada, where a flawed Holy Grail War takes place as an imitation of the original Fuyuki War. This version of the War is marked by unusual elements, such as the absence of a Saber class and a distorted interpretation of heroism.
Aniplex officially confirmed the production of a Fate/strange Fake TV series in 2023, following the release of the Whispers of Dawn OVA. The TV adaptation will revisit some events from the OVA, providing more in-depth exploration, while also covering new territory in the ongoing narrative.
For those interested, the English dub of the first episode will be available for a limited time on Crunchyroll’s YouTube channel.
The premiere of Fate/strange Fake is shaping up to be a key event for Fate fans as it expands the universe with new characters, conflicts, and storylines.
