Odex announced on November 22 that it will be screening Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom (Gekijō-ban Overlord Sei Ōkoku-hen) in select Southeast Asian markets, including Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines. The anime film, part of the Overlord series, has yet to receive an official release date in these regions.
The film debuted in Japan on September 20, following early IMAX screenings that began a week earlier on September 13. In its opening weekend, Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom made an impressive showing, ranking second at the Japanese box office. The film sold 198,000 tickets and grossed ¥317,859,004 (approximately US$2.19 million). Including the IMAX screenings, which contributed to a cumulative total of 270,000 tickets sold, the film earned ¥457 million (around US$3.15 million) during its opening weekend from September 20-22.
Despite the strong opening, the film experienced a decline at the box office, falling out of the top 10 in Japan by its fourth weekend. By October 6, its total earnings had reached ¥910,185,100 (approximately US$6.09 million).
Film Plot and New Cast
The story of Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom centers on the Roebel Sacred Kingdom, a peaceful nation led by Sacred Queen Calca. This peace is shattered when the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth and the Demi-Human Alliance attack the kingdom. Despite efforts by the kingdom’s forces, led by the grandmaster of the Sacred Paladin Order, Remedios, and the high priestess, Kelart, the Roebel Sacred Kingdom faces imminent collapse. In a desperate move, Remedios travels with her order to the Sorcerer Kingdom of Ains Ooal Gown, ruled by the undead overlord Ains Ooal Gown, hoping to gain the power necessary to counter Jaldabaoth.

Production Team
The film was directed by Naoyuki Itou at Madhouse, who also worked on the script and composition. Yukie Sugawara returned to collaborate on the script, while Satoshi Tasaki reprised his role as character designer and chief animation director. Fumiyuki Go returned as sound director at Bit Grooove Promotion, with Shūji Katayama of Team-MAX composing the film’s music. The film is distributed by Kadokawa Animation.
Returning voice cast members include:

- Masayuki Katō as Demiurge
The Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom film project was initially announced during a live special in 2021, further expanding the Overlord anime franchise.
For now, fans in Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines can look forward to the upcoming screenings, with more details expected in the coming months.
