The official website for the popular web anime Nights with a Cat has unveiled a new trailer for its upcoming third season, set to debut on December 4. The trailer introduces a fresh theme song, Aisazu niwa Irarenai (“I can’t help but love you”), performed by renowned singer-songwriter Kashitaro Ito. This marks the third time Ito has contributed a theme song for the series, having previously provided Hinata no Kuni (“The Land in the Sun”) for the first season in 2022 and Neko Neko Biyori (“A Perfect Day for Cats”) for the second season in 2023.
Ito, who has been a key musical contributor to the show, expressed her excitement about the new song. “Although I’ve sung the theme songs for Seasons 1 and 2, this time I entrusted the lyrics and composition to other cat lovers,” she said. “I believe we’ve captured the adorable essence of Kyuruga, the cat, and this song perfectly complements the charm of the character. Every time I watch the episodes, I’m reminded of how endearing Kyuruga is. I hope this song gets you excited to meet a new Kyuruga each week.”
Additionally, the new season will feature the voices of Takuya Eguchi and Aoi Yuki. Eguchi, known for his role as Loid Forger in SPY × FAMILY, joins the cast as Miyama-senpai, a senior colleague of the main character, Fuuta-kun. Yuki, famed for her role as Madoka Kaname in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, voices two new cat characters: Kombu, a black cat, and Chikuwa, a tortoiseshell cat, both owned by Miyama-senpai.
The Nights with a Cat anime adapts the manga by Kyuryu Z, which is serialized in Comic Bridge by Kadokawa Shoten. An English-language version is published by Yen Press. The anime is directed by Minoru Ashina at Studio Puyukai, with character designs by Minoru Takehara and music by Kana Utatane.
To celebrate “Ii Nyan Nyan no Hi” (translated as “A Good Meow Meow Day”) on November 22, a special visual for the third season has also been released, featuring Kyuruga, a gray American shorthair cat, playing with a teaser toy alongside his feline friends Kombu and Chikuwa.
Fans can look forward to Nights with a Cat Season 3, which will stream starting December 4 at 20:00 JST.
