Shueisha, the publisher behind Shonen Jump, is diving deeper into the webtoon craze with the launch of its new platform, Jump Toon. The initiative, which aims to license popular ongoing series and produce original content, has already attracted attention with its announcement of a webtoon adaptation for the popular romance anime Blue Box.
Blue Box, created by Koji Miura, will receive a fully-colored webtoon version on the new platform, set to debut in December 2024. The exact release date remains unconfirmed, but fans can expect the adaptation to join Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc., another series that will be available on Jump Toon around the same time.
While the announcement has generated excitement, there is one significant caveat: Jump Toon’s webtoon series are currently available only in Japanese. This raises questions about when or if Blue Box will be accessible in English or other regional languages, though no official updates on international availability have been made.
This move reflects Shueisha’s ongoing efforts to expand its digital presence and tap into the rapidly growing webtoon market, an area where other major publishers have already made substantial inroads. As the platform grows, Jump Toon is expected to serve as a key player in the evolving world of digital manga and webtoons.
More information is expected as the platform nears its launch.
