Ōji Suzuka Joins Cast of 44th Doraemon Film as Mysterious Art Dealer

The upcoming Doraemon film, Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Esekai Monogatari (The Tale of Nobita’s Picture World), has announced that actor Ōji Suzuka will guest star as Paru, a mysterious art dealer from the fictional country of Artoria. The 44th installment in the long-running franchise is set to premiere in Japan on March 7, 2025.

In The Tale of Nobita’s Picture World, Doraemon, Nobita, and their friends are drawn into a medieval European painting, where they encounter Claire and Milo, two children from the country of Artoria. The group also befriends a small winged demon named Chai. Together, they must face a powerful adversary in a quest to find a legendary jewel.

The film is directed by Yukiyo Teramoto, a veteran of the Doraemon series and movies, with Satoshi Itō, another regular contributor to the franchise, providing the script. The movie marks a special milestone, celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Doraemon film series.

This announcement follows the success of the 2024 Doraemon film, Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Chikyū Symphony (Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Earth Symphony), which topped the Japanese box office in its opening weekend, grossing approximately ¥655 million (US$4.37 million).
