In a highly anticipated return, the creators of Attack on Titan have reunited to present Attack on Titan: The Last Attack, a 145-minute compilation film scheduled for theatrical release across Japan on November 8, 2024. This film aims to provide a definitive conclusion to the beloved series, featuring upgraded visuals and 5.1 surround sound, alongside exciting new content for fans.
Yuki Kaji, the Japanese voice actor for Eren Yeager, recently shared details about an exclusive post-credits scene during a highlights video released on November 1. He revealed that he, along with the voice actors for Armin and Mikasa, recorded this new segment. While Kaji remained tight-lipped about the specifics, he expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I can’t believe it’s finally become an anime… I’m going to scream with all my might.” He emphasized that the atmosphere of the scene is distinctly unique to Attack on Titan, suggesting it may adapt material from the later volumes of the manga that did not make it into the original television adaptation. Kaji also urged viewers to “stay in your seat and watch until the end,” underscoring the importance of the new addition to the film’s narrative.
Originally announced in August 2024, The Last Attack is crafted to reflect the original vision of director Yuichiro Hayashi. In his statement, Hayashi emphasized the significance of experiencing the film in a theater, saying, “Please don’t say that you can watch the final episode anytime on streaming services… Having the opportunity to have everyone watch it in the best possible environment, the theater, is a dream come true for me.”
While the film’s release is confirmed for Japan, it has yet to be determined when it will be available in other regions, including North America, where fans eagerly anticipate a rollout in early 2025.
