October 10, 2024 — During the recent livestream celebrating the fourth anniversary of the Gintama Channel and the sudden emergence anniversary of Gintoki Sakata, it was announced that the highly anticipated spin-off anime 3rd Year Class Z Ginpachi-sensei will premiere on TV Tokyo in October 2025. The event also showcased a new teaser trailer and key visual for the series, along with information about the production team and voice cast.
The 3rd Year Class Z Ginpachi-sensei anime will be directed by Natsumi Higashida at BN Pictures, with Makoto Moriwaki serving as the general director. The series composition will be handled by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu and Mitei Mark II. Notably, Shinji Takeuchi, the animation director from the original Gintama series, will reprise his role for this spin-off. The music will be composed by Audio Highs.

Gintama, created by Hideki Sorachi, began as a manga series in 2004 and concluded in June 2021. The 3rd Year Class Z Ginpachi-sensei spin-off, based on the novel by Tomohiko Osaki, was announced in March 2023. The narrative centers around Gintoki Sakata, who takes on the role of a high school teacher for Class 3-Z at Gintama High School.
While eagerly awaiting the new spin-off, fans can catch up on the original Gintama anime series, available for streaming on Crunchyroll, which features a total of 382 episodes. Additionally, the anime film Gintama: The Very Final is also accessible on the platform.
