As the second season of the highly acclaimed thriller anime “Oshi no Ko” concludes, fans are thrilled to learn that a third season has officially been announced.
Based on the popular manga by Aka Akasaka, “Oshi no Ko” tells the captivating story of Aqua, a doctor, and his recently deceased patient Ruby, who are reborn as twins to Ai Hoshino, a renowned Japanese pop idol. The series delves into their journey navigating the complexities of the entertainment industry as they grow up together.
The first season premiered on April 12, 2023, followed by the second season, which began airing on July 3, 2024. After a successful 13-episode run, the second season wrapped up on October 6, prompting the announcement of the much-anticipated third season.
The cast features notable actors, including Takeo Otsuka, Kent Ito, Yurie Igoma, Tomoyo Takayanagi, Rie Takahashi, Megumi Han, Hisao Egawa, Lynn, Rumi Okubo, Taishi Murata, Asami Seto, Seiji Maeda, and Saori Onishi. New additions to the cast include Mamoru Miyano, portraying Hikaru Kamiki, Aqua and Ruby’s father, and Hina Kino as Tsukuyomi.
The manga debuted in 2020 and has since gained significant popularity, boasting over 18 million copies in circulation as of July 2024. The series currently has 15 volumes available, with the narrative entering its final arc on June 27, 2024.
In addition to the anime, the first trailer for a live-action adaptation was recently unveiled. This adaptation is set to premiere on Prime Video on November 28, 2024, while the live-action film will be released in theaters across Japan on December 20.
