Bye Bye, Earth Anime Announces Second Season for 2025, Music Stream Event Scheduled

The popular fantasy-adventure anime, Bye Bye, Earth, will return for a second season in 2025, confirmed by recent announcements. This exciting news follows the release of a new 20-second trailer, which offers a glimpse into the forthcoming season.

In celebration of the renewal, series character designer Yuki Hino has created exclusive artwork to mark the occasion. Additionally, a special music stream for the anime is scheduled for September 21. The event will showcase the opening and ending theme songs, as well as a video performance by composer Kevin Penkin at Prague’s Rudolfinum.

Bye Bye, Earth is based on the original novel by Tow Ubukata, first published in December 2000 with illustrations by Yoshitaka Amano. The novel later saw a four-volume release from 2007 to 2008, illustrated by Hyung-tae Kim. A manga adaptation by Ryu Asahi was serialized from 2019 to 2022, culminating in four volumes released in Japan. The anime adaptation is a collaborative effort among Crunchyroll, WOWOW, and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan.

The TV anime premiered in Japan on July 12, 2024, and is concurrently streaming on Crunchyroll. The series follows Belle Lablac, the sole human in a world of anthropomorphic animals. Known as the “Faceless” due to her lack of fangs, fur, or scales, Belle embarks on a quest to discover her origins, wielding the colossal Runding sword.

Bye Bye, Earth is celebrated as a significant work by Tow Ubukata, with many considering it a challenging feat to animate. However, it is now being brought to life by some of Japan’s top creators.
