“Trapezium” Anime Film to Premiere in Australia on September 26

Anime distributor Sugoi Co. has announced that the film adaptation of Kazumi Takayama’s novel Trapezium will be screened in theaters across Australia starting September 26. This follows its earlier release in Japan on May 10 and its upcoming screenings in the U.S. and Canada on September 18, as previously announced by Crunchyroll.

The film follows the journey of Yu Azuma, a first-year student with aspirations of becoming a star. Yu forms an idol group with talented peers from local schools, and together they navigate the fierce and challenging entertainment industry. The film explores their inspiring quest to turn their dreams into reality.

The voice cast features Asaki Yuikawa as the protagonist Yū Higashi, Hina Yomiya as Kurumi Taiga, the “Western Star,” Reina Ueda as Ranko Katori, the “Southern Star,” and Haruka Aikawa as Mika Kamei, the “Northern Star,” who is an old schoolmate of Yū Higashi. Idol group JO1’s Shōya Kimata voices Shinji Kudō, and comedian Teruyoshi Uchimura of Utchan Nanchan plays Shūichi Itami.

The film is directed by Masahiro Shinohara, known for his work on Blend S and Is the Order a Rabbit?, at CloverWorks. Koji Masunari, who contributed storyboards for Oshi no Ko and TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You, supervised the project. The script was written by Yuuko Kakihara (The Apothecary Diaries, Buddy Daddies), with character designs by Rio (Sorcerous Stabber Orphen -Chaos in Urbanrama-) and music composed by Masaru Yokoyama (Farewell, My Dear Cramer: The Movie, Fruits Basket -prelude-, Horimiya). Aniplex is handling the film’s distribution.
