Fuji TV has teamed up with animation studio DLE to produce an original short comedy anime titled Pochaazu, scheduled to premiere this fall. The anime’s name is derived from the Japanese slang term “pocha,” which means plump or chubby, fitting for the show’s theme.
Pochaazu will feature a variety of endearing, plump animals, including a giraffe (Pocha-kirin), an elephant (Pocha-zō), and a turtle (Pocha-kame). These charmingly rotund characters are set to bring laughter and warmth to audiences of all ages.
The project is spearheaded by Sorotani, a popular YouTube animator known for his work on the Dokonjo Gaeru Yanen short skit spinoff anime. Sorotani will serve as the director, scriptwriter, and character designer for Pochaazu.
In addition to airing on Fuji TV, the anime will be available for streaming on FOD (Fuji TV On Demand) and other online platforms. It will also be featured on digital signages, making it accessible to a broad audience.
Pochaazu marks the first collaboration between Fuji TV and DLE as they embark on a partnership aimed at developing original intellectual property and creating new business opportunities in the anime industry.
