Boruto Uzumaki, the son of the Seventh Hokage, faces challenges markedly different from those experienced by his father, Naruto. While Boruto never had to contend with the Nine-Tailed Fox causing chaos in the Hidden Leaf Village, he has had his share of trials due to threats from the Kara Organization and the Otsutsuki clan. Despite these obstacles, Boruto has found a valuable ally and mentor in Sasuke Uchiha, his father’s former rival and a key figure from the original Naruto series.
In a recent interview, creators Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto shared intriguing insights into the relationship between Boruto and Sasuke. As depicted in the latest manga installment, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Boruto’s character has matured similarly to his father’s evolution in Naruto: Shippuden. However, Boruto’s situation is significantly more perilous. Under the influence of Eida’s powers, the Hidden Leaf Village now erroneously believes that Boruto is responsible for his parents’ deaths. Concurrently, Kawaki is on a mission to eradicate the Otsutsuki clan. Despite the ninja world turning against him, Boruto still has the support of the Uchiha clan.
Mikio Ikemoto revealed in the interview that Boruto goes to great lengths to impress Sasuke. The young ninja adopts attire reminiscent of his mentor’s in hopes of making a significant impression. With Sasuke embroiled in a critical struggle against the Divine Trees’ schemes, Boruto is determined to assist his teacher in every possible way.
Studio Pierrot has not yet announced when the Naruto and Boruto series will return to television. While the studio has confirmed plans to revisit the original series with four new episodes focusing on Naruto’s early years, their current emphasis on seasonal anime suggests that a return to the ninja world may not be imminent.
