As autumn arrives and the air fills with tales of ghouls and goblins, the anime world is gearing up for a seasonally fitting release. A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School, while not a horror show in the traditional sense, promises a parade of supernatural creatures that are perfect for the Halloween season. The series is set to debut in Japan on October 8, 2024.
A Spooky Season Must-Watch
The highly anticipated A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School!will kick off its first episode on October 8, 2024. The anime is slated to run for two cours, delivering a first season of approximately 24 episodes. The episodes are expected to air consecutively with only a brief pause between the cours.
New Voices Join the Cast
Alongside the premiere date, two additional voice actors have been confirmed for the series. Akira Takano, known for Sono Toki, will lend his voice to the character Rensuke Nyuudou. Shota Aoi, recognized for his work in Ace of Diamond, will voice Akira Takahashi.
These actors join a previously announced cast, including Ryouta Oosaka (Strike the Blood) as Haruaki Abe, Ryouta Suzuki (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) as Mikoto Sano, newcomer Reo Tanie as Mamekichi Maizuka, and Taito Ban (Sugar Apple Fairy Tale) as Hijita Koutarou.
The anime is being produced by Studio Satelight, best known for Hellsing Ultimate, with Katsumi Ono (Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s) at the helm as director. The series composition is being handled by Deko Akao (Noragami), while character designs are crafted by rising artist Natsuki.
A Glimpse Into the Unusual Classroom
A newly released key visual has provided fans with a sneak peek into the bizarre world of A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School. The image depicts protagonist Haruaki Abe cowering under a desk, surrounded by his students—some of whom appear somewhat normal, while others are wildly monstrous in appearance, including a cat-boy hybrid, a cyclops, a skeleton, and a mummy.
Earlier in July, a promotional video showcased the comedic chaos awaiting Abe, offering a deeper look at the eccentric cast of teachers and students, as well as the pranks that ensnare the timid teacher.
The Ongoing Manga
The anime adaptation is based on an ongoing manga of the same name by Mai Tanaka. The story revolves around Haruaki Abe, a timid teacher who finds himself in a school unlike any other, where the students are literal monsters. For Abe, dealing with these mischievous and terrifying students is a daily challenge, as they constantly exploit his fears while he struggles to teach them.
The manga, a blend of fantasy, horror, and comedy, began in 2014 and has reached 16 volumes as of August 2024.
International Availability Uncertain
A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul Schoolwill initially air on Tokyo MX in Japan, with subsequent broadcasts on Asahi Broadcasting Corporation and BS Asahi on October 9 and October 13, respectively. However, details regarding international streaming or distribution are yet to be announced, leaving global fans eagerly awaiting further news on where they can watch the series.
