The widely popular anime series Jujutsu Kaisen is set to bring one of its most celebrated story arcs to the big screen. The series’ Hidden Inventory / Premature Death Arc, which originally spanned five episodes in the anime’s second season, will be compiled and adapted for a theatrical release.
This arc delves into the past of fan-favorite characters Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, taking viewers back to 2006 when the duo were second-year students at Tokyo Jujutsu High. The storyline follows their mission to escort the Star Plasma Vessel to Master Tengen, whose immortality must be preserved. However, their mission is fraught with danger as various Curse user groups plot against them.
The official Jujutsu Kaisen Twitter account recently confirmed the news, sharing a poster and the announcement: “A story from the past… Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto are given a mission to protect and escort a young girl. The arrival of a skilled non-sorcerer assassin threatens to put a rift in both their mission and their friendship…Coming to theaters in 2025!”
Jujutsu Kaisen, based on the manga by Gege Akutami, has garnered a massive following since its debut. The series centers on high school student Yuji Itadori, who joins a group of Jujutsu sorcerers in a quest to eliminate a powerful Curse that Yuji inadvertently becomes the host of. The English voice cast includes notable actors such as Adam McArthur (Star Wars), Robbie Daymond (Spider-Man), and Ray Chase (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure).
The anime was renewed for a third season in December, following the conclusion of season 2. The upcoming season is expected to adapt the Culling Game arc from the manga, though an official release date has yet to be announced.
