The beloved anime series Bananya is set to return this fall with a brand new season titled Bananya Around the World. The official announcement, made today by the series’ creators, confirmed that the new season will premiere in October 2024. Fans across the globe can rejoice as Crunchyroll has secured streaming rights for this latest installment, with the first episodes slated for release in October and additional episodes to follow.
In Bananya Around the World, the endearing cat who lives inside a banana embarks on another whimsical adventure. This time, Bananya encounters a mysterious ball of light, which introduces a new character, Baby Sweet. The two feline friends quickly bond and embark on an exciting journey to explore diverse and intriguing places around the world.
Kyo Yatate will reprise his role as director for this season, with the animation produced by Lesprit studio. The series composition will be handled by Masahiro Takata, with Sei Yoshitsuki contributing to the scripts.
Bananya first captivated audiences in 2016 with its original 13-episode season. The series gained further popularity with its second season, Bananya and the Curious Bunch, which also aired 13 episodes in 2019. Both seasons, directed by Kyo Yatate at animation studio Gathering, featured the voices of Yuki Kaji and Ayumu Murase as they brought various banana cats to life. The series was licensed in North America by Discotek, which also produced an English dub.
Bananya Around the World will be available to stream on Crunchyroll in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and the Indian subcontinent starting in October 2024.
