Theatrical Screenings Across Japan to Accompany Release.The iconic anime film Macross: Do You Remember Love?, a cornerstone of the Macross franchise, is set to receive a 4K remaster, with a Blu-ray set scheduled for release on January 29, 2025.
Originally released on July 21, 1984, Macross: Do You Remember Love? is a theatrical adaptation of the Super Dimension Fortress Macross TV series, which aired from 1982 to 1983. To celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary, a comprehensive 4K remastering project has been initiated, involving the restoration of the original 35mm negative film using cutting-edge scanning technology.
The upcoming 4K remaster Blu-ray set will feature both a 4K ULTRA HD Blu-ray and a standard Blu-ray disc, including the film’s original 1984 theatrical version and its 2016 complete edition. Fans will also receive a special booklet containing new interviews, as well as a collector’s box adorned with fresh artwork by Haruhiko Mikimoto, the film’s character designer. The set is available for pre-order at 9,900 yen (approximately $68 USD) until January 3, 2025.
In conjunction with the Blu-ray release, the remastered 4K ULTRA HD edition will be screened in 40 theaters across Japan starting January 25, 2025. Fans who attend the screenings will have the opportunity to purchase the Blu-ray set ahead of its official release date.
